Endeavour Foundation Lottery Prize Home
DEVELOPER: Endeavour Foundation
CERTIFICATION: Ecosystems, Waste, Energy, Materials, Water, Community
The Endeavour Foundation’s Eco-Lifestyle Lottery Prize Home on the Sunshine Coast is the first single dwelling to achieve certification in all six elements under Version 2 of the national standards. The luxury home, located on a 1.32 ha lot an hour north of Brisbane, incorporates solar-panels, water-wise tapware, a natural bio pool, native landscaping, sustainable building materials and furnishings made from recycled timber and natural fibres.
EnviroDevelopment is proud to have worked with the Endeavour Foundation to provide third-party sustainability certification for the prize home, the centrepiece of the Eco-Lifestyle Lottery. Officially launched on 10 June 2015, funds raised from the Eco-Lifestyle Lottery will go towards building modern houses for people with a disability to have more independence and choice about where and with whom they live. There will be an upcoming spot on The Today Show featuring the lottery prize home so keep an eye out for that!
The prize home’s most notable environmentally-friendly achievement is its self-sufficiency. With no town water available at the site, the home’s 45,000 litre rainwater storage tanks are ample to service the home and in-ground swimming pool, while the onsite sewerage treatment plant will irrigate the native-landscaped lower gardens. Electricity production from the 6kw solar panel arrays are producing an average of 30 kWh per day – more than enough to satisfy the average electricity demands for a family of four on the Sunshine Coast. The home also utilises a solar hot water system to further reduce operating costs.
